Law on gender equality

The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Law on gender equality on May 24, 2021, which was published in the Official Gazette of RS No. 52/2021. The provisions of the amended law will be applied as of January 1,2024. The reasons for passing the new law are numerous and are mostly determined in the section of the Revised Action Plan for the Implementation of Obligations from Chapter 23 Justice and Fundamental Rights, according to which the Republic of Serbia plans to pay due attention to improving and promoting gender equality, strategically and in terms of legislation and strengthening the coordination and capacity of institutions. The law undoubtedly represents a good basis for improving the realization and promotion of the principle of gender equality.
